The 70% space saving is real. They are tough and have held up well to hundreds of cycles.”TomLogistics Director, UK“We needed a specific size that didn’t exist. Purepack’s team designed a custom collapsible corrugated plastic box that fits our parts perfectly. The folding design works good. Great partner.”JamesSupply Chain, GermanyHow much space do the collapsible corrugated plastic boxes save?About 70%. A 300mm high box folds down to about 30mm, allowing you to stack more goods in return shipping and storage. How durable is the folding structure? Can it break? Our collapsible corrugated plastic boxes are designed for repeated use. We use techniques like ultrasonic welding or double-thickness material at the fold points. A typical box can withstand hundreds of fold-unfold cycles in normal use.Is the folding operation complicated?A simple and fast folding operation can be completed. No need to use any tools, one person can complete it in seconds. How to choose a Collapsible Corrugated Plastic Box?Friends who work in logistics, auto parts, and e-commerce want to choose foldable hollow board boxes to save shipping costs and warehouse space. But there are many manufacturers on the market who make folding boxes, and they look similar, but the price difference is very large.Below, I will explain several points you need to notice when choosing a foldable corrugated plastic box.Firstly, look at the folding structureThis is the most crucial point. Many cheap folding boxes are made by pressing a few creases on ordinary hollow boards, which crack and scatter after a few uses, and the hinges break directly. How to judge good or bad:Look at the folding method: A good folding corrugated plastic box uses a structure that is welded with ultrasonic waves, locked with snap fasteners, or reinforced with rivets, rather than relying on the indentation of the board itself to fold. The folding point of ultrasonic welding can be folded hundreds of times without any problem.Look at the lock: After the box is closed, the lock should be sturdy. Raise the box with force and see if it will automatically spread apart. If it is loose means that the lock is not working properly. During transportation, the box would easily open, and all the goods would fall out.Secondly, look at the thickness after foldingManufacturers say they can save 70% of space, but how and how much to save depends on specific data. You need to clarify a few datas:How high is the box when unfolded? How thin is it when folded? What is the size after being folded?Normally, a box with a height of 300mm can be folded up to around 30mm, which can save 70% space. If it is still 80mm or 100mm thickness after folding, it means that the design is unreasonable and the space saved is limited. How to do it: Ask the manufacturer to send you a comparison chart of the dimensions before and after folding, or measure the actual size during the sample stage; don’t just listen to what they say.Thirdly, make sure the size and thicknessFolding boxes are not standard products; their size and thickness must match your goods. How to choose thickness:Loading light goods (such as documents, clothes, small parts): 3-4mm thickness is sufficientMedium-weight goods (such as bottled beverages and hardware): 4-5mm thickLoading heavy goods (such as mechanical parts, automotive parts): 5mm or more, preferably with a reinforced designHow to choose size: Design the box as big as your product, no leaving too much space. If it has the free space, the goods will be shaking inside and cause damage easily.Attention: Only manufacturers who can customize can design the best folding structure based on your product. If the manufacturer only sells standard-sized folding boxes, your goods may not fit properly.Fourth: Consider whether to use special functionsWhere your folding box is used determines whether special features need to be added.Regular warehouse/logistics: Regular PP board is sufficient, waterproof, moisture-proof, and washableElectronic/semiconductor workshop: Anti-static (ESD) boards must be selected. Friction in a regular box generates static electricity, damaging the chip and causing significant lossesCold storage/fruits and vegetables: should be resistant to low temperatures, waterproof, and not crack when frozenOutdoor/construction sites: UV-resistant (UV-stable); otherwise, it will become brittle after a few months of sun exposureThese special functions need to be adjusted in the material formula, and cannot be solved by spraying paint later. Make sure it before communicating with the manufacturer. In summary:When you choose the collapsible corrugated plastic boxes, remember the above key factors. Then let the manufacturer send you a sample according to your design, and provide a quotation to avoid being deceived. Purepack is an experienced factory in packing solutions.
