What Are The Fire-Rated Correx Sheets?
Fire-rated Correx sheets are also called fireproof corrugated plastic sheets, flame-retardant coroplast sheets. It is a pp hollow board with a flame-retardant effect by adding flame retardant to polypropylene raw material through extrusion molding. Usually, flame-retardant coroplast sheet is divided into three grades: V2, V1, and V0. The flame-retardant correx can automatically extinguish after leaving the fire source and will not become a fire-inducing material.
The Fire-rated correx sheets can be made into various products, such as floor protection at the welding operation site, flame-retardant coroplast boxes, tree guards, layer pads, fruit & vegetable packaging boxes, recyclable PP Logistic Box, etc.

Good toughness, resistant to collisions, can effectively protect goods from damage.

Much lighter than cardboard or foam partitions. Reduces packaging costs.

Unlike cardboard, our PP dividers will not weaken or deform when exposed to moisture.
13 Years of Experience in Fire-Resistant
We have been in this industry for 13 years, and the formula for fire-rated Correx sheets is repeatedly tested and adjusted by us. It’s not about buying ready-made flame-retardant master batch and mixing it randomly, but about blending different flame-retardant formulas according to different thicknesses, colors, and uses. So our fire-rated Correx sheets have stable performance between batches, and there will not be a situation where this batch can pass V0, and the next batch cannot pass.

With Our Own Production Line, We Control the Entire Process
We have 16 fully automated production lines with an annual output of over 20000 tons of fire-rated Correx sheets. The production process parameters of fireproof board are developed by ourselves, from raw material to extrusion molding, the whole process is completed in our own factory, without outsourcing. After each batch of boards is produced, we conduct our own flame retardant testing to ensure compliance with UL94 V-0 standards before packaging and shipping.

How to choose the fire rating for fire rated Correx sheets?
People who do procurement know that buying fire rated Correx sheets is not enough. The requirements for fire protection levels vary in different scenarios and industries. The level has been selected as low, and the fire safety inspection cannot be passed; Choosing a higher level is a waste of cost.
Today, I will explain the UL94 fire rating standards clearly and help you choose the right rating without wasting money.
What does fire rating really mean?
UL94 is a flammability standard for plastic materials developed by Underwriters Laboratories in the United States, and is currently the most widely used plastic fire rating standard internationally. It mainly measures three indicators:
How long does it take to extinguish after leaving the fire – the faster the better
Is there any molten material dripping during combustion? Dropping can ignite things underneath, which is very dangerous
Will the dripping molten material continue to burn? It is more dangerous to burn
According to these three indicators, UL94 divides the fire rating of plastics into three levels: V2, V1, and V0, from low to high.
Explain the differences between the three levels in a table
Level testing method: whether the extinguishing time is allowed, whether dripping objects are flammable, and whether the level is high or low
V2 undergoes two 10-second combustion tests and extinguishes within 60 seconds. Droplets are allowed to burn at the lowest
V1 Two 10-second combustion tests, extinguish within 60 seconds, no dripping allowed – medium
V0 conducts two 10-second combustion tests and extinguishes within 30 seconds. No dripping allowed – maximum
Let me explain it one by one below.
V2 level: basic fire protection, allowing dripping
V2 is the lowest level of fire-resistant hollow board. The testing method is: burn the fire source for 10 seconds, move it away, and wait for it to extinguish; Burn for another 10 seconds, then move away. In both tests, the flame must be extinguished within 60 seconds.
V2 allows molten material to drip from the board during combustion, and the dripping material can continue to burn.
What scenarios use V2?
Ordinary storage with low fire prevention requirements
Short-term turnover packaging
Scenarios that are cost-sensitive and do not have mandatory fire safety requirements
Attention: Although the V2 board can self-extinguish, the dripping combustibles may ignite the goods or the ground below. If there are flammable materials in the warehouse, it is not recommended to use V2.
V1 level: Intermediate fire protection, no dripping allowed
The testing method for V1 is the same as that for V2: burning twice for 10 seconds and extinguishing within 60 seconds. But the difference is that V1 does not allow the dripping of burning molten material.
This requirement is crucial. Because many fires spread, it’s not because the boards themselves burned for too long, but because the molten material dripped onto the cardboard boxes and wooden pallets below, igniting other things.
What scenarios use V1?
Layer pads and partitions on warehouse shelves
Scenarios with fire safety requirements, but not particularly strict
Customers who need to balance cost and a certain level of security
V0 level: highest fire resistance, extinguished within 30 seconds, no dripping
V0 is the highest level in the UL94 standard. The testing method is the same: burn twice for 10 seconds. But the requirements are stricter:
Extinguishing time: 30 seconds, not 60 seconds
Dripping: No burning molten material is allowed to drip
The V0 board extinguishes the fastest after leaving the fire and does not produce any burning droplets, ensuring the highest safety.
What scenarios require the use of V0?
Construction site: Temporary enclosures, ground protection panels, strict fire safety inspections
Electronic Factory: Electronic component packaging must be both fire-resistant and anti-static
Aerospace: Component packaging with extremely high fire resistance requirements
Public transportation: Temporary partitions on subways, high-speed trains, and airplanes
Export to Europe and America: Many countries have mandatory V0 requirements for packaging materials of imported products
How to choose? You need to consider the following three questions
Question 1: In what environment is your product used?
Indoor ordinary storage → V2 is sufficient
Warehouse/workshop with fire inspection → Starting from V1
Construction sites, electronics factories, exports to Europe and America → directly on V0
Question 2: Do you have any fire safety acceptance requirements for your product?
Yes, please clarify whether the acceptance criteria are V0 or V1, and choose according to the standards
No → Select based on usage scenario and budget
Question 3: Will your product come into contact with other flammable materials?
Yes (such as carton, wooden tray, foam) → V1 at least, V0 preferably
No (such as metal parts, glass bottles) → V2 is sufficient
A simple principle
When unsure which level to choose, choose high instead of low.
V0 is not much more expensive than V2, but in case of a fire accident, the loss would be several hundred times the cost of the board. Moreover, many customers buy V2 for the first time, but later fail the fire safety inspection and switch back to V0, which actually incurs an additional shipping and labor cost.
Directly going to V0 is the most convenient.
What should I pay attention to when buying fireproof hollow boards?
To test the report, don’t just listen to him say: the supplier says’ fire prevention ‘, you have to ask him to bring out the UL94 test report. The batch number on the report should correspond to the actual shipped board.
Batch stability: The flame retardant formula of the fireproof board is crucial, and the performance between different batches cannot fluctuate. Find a factory with its own production line and years of experience, ensuring batch consistency.
Other functions can be added: If you need both fire and static electricity prevention, or both fire and food-grade, find a supplier who can do formula stacking at once, without buying two types of boards to piece together.
Summary
The selection of the level of fireproof hollow board ultimately boils down to three words: depending on the scene.
Ordinary warehousing, cost sensitive → V2
There are fire safety requirements that need to be taken into account → V1
Construction sites, electronics factories, exports to Europe and America → V0
Choosing the right level meets safety requirements without wasting money. Choosing the wrong option, either failing the acceptance or incurring additional costs, is not cost-effective.
Please send us your usage scenario and fire prevention requirements, and we will recommend the most suitable grade and thickness for you.
