What Is a Polypropylene Sheet 4x8?
A polypropylene sheet 4×8 is the standard stock size of solid PP sheet — a 1220 × 2440 mm (48″ × 96″, or 4 ft × 8 ft) homogeneous, rigid thermoplastic plate. Also called PP solid board, PP plastic panel, or PP flat sheet, it is the workhorse size most fabricators start from: a full 4×8 sheet can be cut into dozens of smaller parts, or welded into a tank, a duct, or a guard without joining multiple pieces. PP sheet is lightweight, chemically stable, and non-toxic, and is widely used in the machinery, chemical, electronics, construction, packaging, and food industries.
Because it is homogeneous and semi-crystalline, a polypropylene sheet 4×8 keeps its shape through cutting, heating, and welding — it bends without cracking. It holds its dimensions in humid or chemical environments, so a panel cut from the master sheet stays true from edge to edge.

Homogeneous semi-crystalline polypropylene sheet with a smooth or textured surface, stocked in the 4×8 (1220×2440mm) size from 0.5mm to 20mm thin sheet and 30mm to 100mm thick plate. The general industrial grade is used for machinery parts, chemical equipment, and food processing.

Our customer buys 8mm 4×8 PP sheets from us and builds corrosion-proof tanks in their own metal-finishing workshop. Starting from a stocked 4×8 blank, they cut and weld an 8mm solid PP tank with a PP welding rod. The tank resists diluted hydrochloric acid with no liner or coating, and at 0.91 g/cm³ it weighs far less than a steel tank of the same volume, so two workers move it into position without a crane. They reorder the same 4×8 PP sheets every season.
A seafood processor buys 6mm food-grade PP 4×8 sheets and has us cut each master into bench tops with welded upstands and a drain channel. Because PP is non-toxic, odourless, and does not absorb water, there is no joint for bacteria to lodge in and no rust or coating to fail. Weight follows from the density and thickness: at 0.90–0.91 g/cm³ a 4×8 sheet is about 2.7 kg per 1 mm. So a 3mm sheet is ~8kg, a 5mm ~13.5kg and a 10mm ~27kg. A thin PP sheet is light enough for one person to carry and position; a 15–20mm PP panel needs two people or a hoist.
As a rule of thumb: 3mm for light panels, dividers and display backboards; 5mm for machine guards, drip trays and light jigs; 6mm for tank and vessel liners, workbench tops and food-prep surfaces; 10mm for structural baffles, pump and valve backing plates; 12–20mm for heavy machined parts and base plates. Tell us your usage and we will recommend the thickness.
Each sheet is PE-film wrapped with corner protectors and stacked flat on a wooden pallet, so it arrives flat and unscratched. We ship by LTL or flat-rack depending on volume, and can supply invoice, packing list and certificate of origin.
We hold thickness and flatness corner to corner across the full PP sheet, and we store and pack every sheet flat. PP can bow if a stack is leaned or left in the sun, so keep pallets flat and shaded; if a sheet has bowed in transit we will replace it.
