But the boxes on the market look similar, but the prices are very different. Choosing the wrong one can actually be more expensive and troublesome.
Don’t ask ‘which one is good’, first clarify the following 5 questions, and you will naturally know what kind to buy.
What does your product look like? ——Determine the size of the box
The clearest thing about making auto parts is that a gearbox and a brake disc have completely different shapes. The same applies to warehousing and logistics, where the internal separation is different for bottle loading and component loading.
How to choose: Don’t buy “standard size” to fit. Choosing a manufacturer that can provide customization services. What environment is the box used in? ——Determine the board and function
Your usage scenarios are different, and your requirements for the board are also different.
Ordinary warehouse/logistics: Regular PP hollow boards are sufficient, waterproof, moisture-proof, and washable.
Electronic/semiconductor workshop: Anti-static (ESD) boards must be selected. Ordinary boxes generate static electricity through friction, which damages the chips and causes significant losses. We need to find suppliers with ESD certification schemes.
The cold storage/fruits and vegetables: It is necessary to choose returnable boxes that are waterproof and can resist low temperatures, to make sure that they will not become brittle when frozen.
Outdoor/Building: Must be sun-resistant and aging-resistant.
Can the returnable boxes be stacked, and how much weight do they bear? ——Determine strength and structure
In order to save space in the warehouse, boxes are often stacked in three or four layers. The box at the bottom has the highest pressure capacity. If the strength is not enough, it will deform directly, and the goods inside will be scrapped.
How to choose: Based on your actual stacking layers and weight of the goods, choose the suitable thickness of the board (3mm, 4mm, 5mm, or even thicker). If it is loaded with heavy goods (such as mechanical parts or metal parts), we recommend choosing a heavy turnover box with a reinforced rib structure, or using rice-shaped corrugated plastic boards, which have greater load-bearing capacity and are not easy to deform under pressure.
How long will this box last? ——Determine material costs
The purpose of buying the returnable boxes is to reuse them repeatedly and save long-term costs. But if the box cracks and softens after a few uses, it’s better to use cardboard boxes.
How to choose: If the box is planned to be used dozens or even hundreds of times, don’t be tempted to buy cheap ones mixed with recycled materials. It is made of food-grade PP new material with good toughness, bending resistance, and aging resistance. It can be used for two or three years or more.
