How to choose a Collapsible Corrugated Plastic Box?

But there are many manufacturers on the market who make folding boxes, and the things look similar, but the price difference is very large. Choosing the wrong option not only saves money but may also result in losses.
Below, I will explain several points to pay attention to when choosing a folding box, all of which are common pitfalls in actual procurement.
Firstly, look at the folding structure, not just the price
This is the most crucial point. Many cheap folding boxes are made by pressing a few creases on ordinary hollow boards, which crack and scatter after a few uses, and the hinges break directly.
How to judge good or bad:
Look at the folding method: A good folding box uses a structure that is welded with ultrasonic waves, locked with snap fasteners, or reinforced with rivets, rather than relying on the indentation of the board itself to fold. The folding point of ultrasonic welding can be folded hundreds of times without any problem.
Look at the lock buckle: After the box is closed, the lock buckle should be sturdy. Lift the diagonal of the box hard and see if it will automatically spread apart. The loose design indicates that the lock buckle is not functioning properly. During transportation, the box would easily open, and all the goods would fall out.
Check material thickness: The material at the folding point cannot be too thin. Good manufacturers will locally thicken the folding position or use double-layer materials to enhance it.

How high is the box when unfolded?
How thin is it when folded?
What is the size after being folded?
Normally, a box with a height of 300mm can be folded up to around 30mm, which can save 70% space. If it is still 80mm or 100mm thickness after folding, it means that the design is unreasonable and the space saved is limited.
How to do it: Ask the manufacturer to send you a comparison chart of the dimensions before and after folding, or measure the actual size during the sample stage; don’t just listen to what they say.
Thirdly, based on your goods, make sure the size and thickness
Folding boxes are not standard products; their size and thickness must match your goods.
How to choose thickness:
Loading light goods (such as documents, clothes, small parts): 3-4mm thickness is sufficient
Medium-weight goods (such as bottled beverages and hardware): 4-5mm thick
Loading heavy goods (such as mechanical parts, automotive parts): 5mm or more, preferably with a reinforced design
How to choose size:
Make the box as big as your product is, without leaving too much space. The space has increased, and the goods are shaking inside, which can easily cause damage. The space is just right, and we can also put a few more boxes of goods to save on shipping costs.
Attention: Only manufacturers who can customize can design the best folding scheme based on your product. If the manufacturer only sells standard-sized folding boxes, your goods may not fit properly.
Fourth: Determine whether to use special features based on the usage environment

Regular warehouse/logistics: Regular PP board is sufficient, waterproof, moisture-proof, and washable
Electronic/semiconductor workshop: Anti-static (ESD) boards must be selected. Friction in a regular box generates static electricity, damaging the chip and causing significant losses
Cold storage/fruits and vegetables: should be resistant to low temperatures, waterproof, and not crack when frozen
Outdoor/construction sites: UV-resistant (UV-stable); otherwise, it will become brittle after a few months of sun exposure
